What do you give a young person who is turning 12? A dozen roses? A dozen candy bars? A dozen photos? Nothing seems to be right except maybe a dozen validations that she is beautiful, kind, thoughtful, patient, dedicated, conscientious, caring, and overflowing with potential. Young people seek validation from peers, teachers, and adults, but the best comes from family. Maybe not received easily, but it will be lasting if it is revisited often. So Happy Birthday. You have a dozen months before you are officially a teen. Here is my validation---Perfect 10!
